You Need a Killer Subject Line

First of all, you’ve got to get your readers to click on that email. This is the what truly sets successful emails apart from the unsuccessful ones. It’s really easy to send an email straight to the trash. These days, you probably delete more emails than you actually read. If you want people to read your emails, then you need a subject line that grabs their attention right away. If your recipients are intrigued enough, they’ll keep reading. You can use a few different strategies for your subject lines. Here are some examples:

  • Use the recipient’s name in the subject line.
  • As a question.
  • Use an important quote or statistic.

Keep brainstorming your options. Once you’ve gotten people to click on your email, then you’re already more successful than a lot of other email campaign creators.

Sustain Their Attention With Your Opening Lines

So you have their attention. Now what? You’re not done yet. Now you need to make sure you keep that attention. If you don’t have an intriguing first paragraph, your readers will stop right there. A good opening paragraph should be like the opening of a good story. It asks just enough questions and leaves just enough mystery to make people want to read to the end. Once you’ve written your first paragraph, ask yourself: Is this the sort of content that makes people want to keep reading? If not, ask yourself how you can fix that.

Create a Good Visual

We don’t just mean that you’ll need good images, although those are important too. You should absolutely include images in your emails to keep your readers interested. However, we also mean that your email should, as a whole, look visually inviting. For instance, if someone skimmed over your content without reading it, would that content look easy to read? Or would it look intimidating? Make sure that you break up your paragraphs often. If you don’t, than people may not feel they have the time and energy to devote to those paragraphs.
